1 (5-pound ) bag frozen disjointed chicken wings
:
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon ground chili powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2½ tablespoons black pepper
1 tablespoon seasoning salt
3 cups wood chips of your choice (apple, pecan, cherry
or hickory)
1 cup honey
¼ cup Super Smokers "Texas Hot" BBQ Sauce
2 tablespoons apple juice
Remove the bag of chicken wings from the freezer. Prepare
E-Z Rub by combining onion powder, chili powder, garlic
powder, black pepper and seasoning salt. Rub the surface
of the wings (still in the bag) and let the rub dry for
at least 30 minutes while your coals are burning to white.
(Closing the bag and shaking it will coat the wings even
better.) Remove the wings from the bag and place them on
your BBQ grill/smoker grid using indirect heat and smoke.
Add wood smoking chips to coals. Smoke for 25 minutes.
Place wings in a (13 ½” x 9 ½”)
disposable all-purpose foil pan.
In small bowl, combine honey, BBQ sauce, and apple juice.
Pour the sauce over the wings in the pan until all wings
are evenly coated. Place pan on grid over direct heat.
Wings be ready after about 30 minutes.
P.S. This rub can also be used to add zip to pork chops,
loin, or just plain chicken pieces.
P.P.S. For a spicier sauce, use more "Texas Hot" sauce.
To cool off the wings, substitute our Super Smokers "Tennessee
Original" BBQ sauce.
